  1. By entering this competition you agree to accept and be bound by these terms and conditions and acknowledge that failure to comply with them may result in disqualification.
  2. Entrants: This competition is open to all school and college students in the state of Bihar. There is no fee to enter. The promoter will only accept one entry per entrant. Multiple or incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.
  3. Dates:
    1. Essay competition will begin accepting entries from 8:00 AM IST on October 2nd, 2018 (Gandhi Jayanti) (“opening date“) and please verify the content with the document
    2. Essay entries will be accepted until evening of November 14th, 2018 (“closing date”)
    3. Results will be declared at 12 PM on December 25th, 2018 (Atal ji’s birthday) on www.atalpratiyogita.com. Winners will also be contacted by SMS on the number provided during registration.
  4. Prizes for school students: The following prizes shall be provided to school students:
    1. Rupees twenty-five thousand (Rs. 25,000) to first prize winner.
    2. Rupees fifteen thousand (Rs. 15,000) to second prize winner.
    3. Rupees ten thousand (Rs. 10,000) to third prize winner.
  5. Prizes for college students: The following prizes shall be provided to college students:
    1. Rupees fifty-thousand (Rs. 50,000) to first prize winner.
    2. Rupees thirty thousand (Rs. 30,000) to second prize winner.
    3. Rupees twenty thousand (Rs. 20,000) to third prize winner.
  6. Prize Distribution:
    1. Winners will have to share their bank UPI address to enable the cash reward transfer to their account.
    2. Merit certificates will be issued to meritorious writings from all districts for all topics and languages
  7. Entry Specifications: Each entry must be:
    1. in either English, Hindi, or Urdu
    2. submitted online on www.atalpratiyogita.com in accordance with specified word limits
    3. an original work of which the entrant is the author and which has not been previously published in any language and is not in breach of any third party rights. No plagiarism will be tolerated and plagiarised entries will be disqualified.
    4. anonymous to ensure a fair judging process. The name should only be provided in the designated sections of the form.
    5. Hand written essays are accepted. However, please use the recommended style to ensure accurate marking. The key is legibility. To ensure this, please use a ruled A4 size sheet, write using black ink in double spacing.
  8. Markers: The competition will be judged by independent markers who will (at their sole discretion) apply the marking criteria. They will receive the entrants essays anonymously to ensure fairness. Short-listed essays will be reviewed by another marker before reaching the final decision of winners. The markers’ decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to their decisions or the competition.
  9. Copyright/Ownership: Entrants will own and retain all copyright in their own entry. The winners grant the Atal Pratiyogita and the promoter a royalty-free licence to use their entries in any publication. Winners also agree to the promoter’s use of his/ her name and photograph in relation to publicity material which may be made available online, digitally or in hard copy.
  10. Miscellaneous:
    1. The prizes are non-transferable and non-refundable.
    2. The promoter and the Atal Pratiyogita reserve the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
